Who Qualifies For The Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and will close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should satisfy the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home with a combined gross family income that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined household income will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not submit any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are studying or plan to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to here study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have more info to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in my nsfas the processing of their application.
